Ellansé, a non-hyaluronic acid filler, is used to lift, sculpt, and restore lost volume caused by aging skin when injected into the skin. Its primary component is Poly-Caprolactone (PCL) microspheres, a bio-resorbable soft medical polymer, suspended in a gel carrier made of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
Ellansé is composed of microspheres that degrade differently from other fillers. Upon introduction to the body, Ellansé goes through a gradual "resorption" process where the molecules dissolve progressively. The microspheres retain their original volume until most of the molecules are dissolved, resulting in extended longevity.
The duration of the effects depends on the number of molecules constituting the spheres – more molecules lead to longer-lasting results.
Both Ellansé and hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers offer exceptional results. Some advantages of Ellansé over HA fillers include longer-lasting effects, lower risk of delayed hypersensitivity reactions, reduced migration, and better volume retention.
